High Dosage Tutoring Program

This school year, I led a before-school high-dosage tutoring program that ran for two months, twice a week. The program was designed to support 4th grade students in preparing for the New York State Math and ELA exams. Through targeted instruction and consistent support, I reinforced key academic skills while helping students build confidence ahead of the assessments. The program focused on test-taking strategies and essential skills, which were modeled and practiced using released questions from past state exams to provide students with meaningful, hands-on preparation.

STEAM Club

During my student teaching experience, I had the opportunity to observe 5th grade STEAM club sessions led by my mentor teacher. I supported students during hands-on experiments and kept them engaged through purposeful questioning. I loved seeing their excitement as they explored new concepts through interactive learning.

This year, I had the opportunity to lead my own STEAM club sessions alongside a colleague, where we taught a “Kitchen Cooking” unit. We created simple recipes—like Oreo balls and salt dough—for students to follow, making science both fun and accessible. Each activity was thoughtfully connected to classroom content, including concepts such as mixtures and solutions, homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures, and states of matter. It was a rewarding experience to watch students make real-world connections through creative, hands-on learning.
